Same Sex Marriage
For many decades now, the issue of allowing people of the same sex to marry has been hotly contested. Many people have debated against it, whereas some have stood in support of it. This issue has led to many people raising their eyebrows and questioning why same sex marriage ought to be supported in the first place. For most people, their religious beliefs are that marriage is a religious consent and it is the key to procreation. However, not every human being is religious and believes in the religious decrees of procreation. Additionally, some of the developed countries in the world have also legalized same sex marriage, which has driven the world into yet another wave of discussion. Several groups claiming to uphold and fight for the rights of lesbians and gays have also sprung up and the world is indeed starting to realize the urgency of this issue.
It is indeed evident that everyone may not find themselves attracted to a person of the same sex. People attracted to persons of the opposite sex are mostly against same sex marriage since they believe it is an offense against God. Moreover, they believe that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman and that God forbids the union of people of the same gender. However, accepting homosexuals for who they are, will do them no harm since they are human beings like them and they are doing nothing wrong but that which they believe to bring them pleasure and happiness. Additionally, it would be wrong to blame them for being attracted to persons of the same gender. Legalizing same sex marriage is advantageous in that it makes gay couples feel accepted and less inferior.
