Question 1: Why a child would draw the water level of glass as parallel to the top and bottom of the glass even when the glass is tipped at an angle of 45 degrees
As a result of being in the early stages of cognitive development, a child transfers what they have experienced about an aspect when they have to represent something relating to it. They do not have the inductive logic to see scenarios differently in different situations. A child finds water levels in a glass parallel to its top and bottom in their daily life, and from a different angle, they will carry that memory and use it in drawing the water level of the glass. To many children, it does not occur that gravity constrains the status of the water to remain parallel to the surface on which the glass sits. They are guided more by intellectual construction than what they can see. It is hard to convince a child that a kilogram of sugar and a kilogram of a sponge is the same quantity when physically presented to them in a similar scenario.
