The book is reliable and effective since it allows the readers to understand the primary reasons why some children do not become heroes while others make it in life. It also captures the dark side of the human experience, which may alter the children's possibilities of success. Different characters are considered in the book, which adequately shows that traumatized children heavily go through mental problems and need adequate treatment to prevent drastic effects on their future endeavors. Traumatic events majorly impact how an individual expresses healing and love. The chapter shows what traumatized children require to address possible challenges that impact their mental and resilience. The book advocate for the proper management of traumatic events using suitable strategies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy. The treatments offered adequate assistance to the traumatized children in different chapters. Besides, the book provides reliable standards and measures for sustaining mental health among the characters such as Tina. Therefore, the book generally provides a good impression to the traumatized and adequately embraces them in society.
Chapter 1: Tina's World
Traumas
Tina was a 7-year old African-American girl with a traumatic condition affecting her drastically. The evidence that the events were traumatic is that a sixteen-year-old boy abused her, yet she was only four years (Perry 9). A traumatic event is any activity that causes psychological, emotional, or physical harm. Tina suffered all the identified harms. She was psychologically impacted since the activity jeopardized her ability to embrace others. It is also evidence-based on emotional status. The sexual abuse affected her emotionally by lowering her self-esteem. Tina felt physically threatened and was heavily impacted by the threat. Besides, the act made her be socially disconnected from her peers. Therefore, there is adequate evidence that the act adversely impacted the client's psychological, emotional, and physical status. It was also a horrifying event since her brother was also molested. Lastly, the evidence shows that the condition was adverse and long-term. It occurred for two years, which had adverse impacts on the client's condition. Therefore, Tina suffered from sexual abuse, a critical PTSD aspect.
