* Describe your typical day – including your major responsibilities.
My typical day starts early enough. I go through my notes briefly on what I intend to teach in my physics classes. I ensure I have all the material I need in class and head for school. After that, it's the assembly. And after the assembly, I am ready to get to class as per the timetable that has been scheduled. We meet up with the rest of the teachers during breaks and catch up. After my classes are done, I head to my desk to prepare for the next day's lessons, right before I head home.
* What skills are needed to succeed at work?
I believe those would be patience, communication skills, time management skills, and critical thinking skills.
* What are areas of knowledge/ content needed to succeed at your work?
The obvious one is knowledge of the subject one is teaching, an understanding of how to teach, knowledge of the learners in a way one understands how they learn, and a knowledge of the purpose of the education.
* Are there any challenges that make it difficult to perform your job?
There are a few challenges, such as the constant pressure from school administration to get outstanding performance from students. There is the challenge of trying to balance different teaching techniques for different types of students. Sometimes as teachers, we feel unmotivated due to our very less pay. Dealing with undisciplined students can also be a negative factor when performing the job.
