The article, “Ontario Investing in mental health and addictions supports for indigenous communities,” discusses the Ontario government’s plan to invest about $36 million in community-led mental health and addictions supports for indigenous communities within the province (Ontario Newsroom, 2021). The move results from the resulting trauma from painful legacy and residential schools burial site findings facing the community. The government admits that indigenous people have faced numerous challenges in accessing any medical health, particularly safe mental health and addiction care. Thus, it seeks to use this investment to eliminate this disparity and ensure they access effective and safe mental health care whenever needed. The funding will help the situation by offering the Aboriginal residential school survivors and their relatives focused mental health and addiction support to help them heal (Ontario Newsroom, 2021).
