The YMCA of New York City
The YMCA is a charitable organization that is concerned with issues of social justice. The organization has sought to utilize Christian principles in a practical manner through development of programs, which help people to build healthy bodies, minds, and spirits (Reference for Business). The organization measure the impact on the national system through the number of lives that change thanks to the activities of the YMCA. The organization has managed to serve sixteen million people so far, and has changed the lives of at least 57,000 individuals who volunteer to govern YMCA facilities in the nation. The impact has also extended to hundreds of thousands of volunteers and staff members who work for the associations. The organization provides assistance in various sectors, which include financing, accounting, programming, and purchasing. There are six major groups that facilitate operational activities. The groups are the Association Advancement group that deal with advertising, marketing, communications, media and corporate relations, and public policy. The second group is the International Group. The group oversees the incorporation of international education into existing programs and international activities such as training conferences and events, and development and emergency assistance. Third is the Knowledge Management Group which focuses on knowledge dissemination, conduction of research, and maintenance of technological services. Fourth is the leadership Development Group. The docket deals with human resources, staff development and training, and benefits for employees. Next is the Membership and Program Development Group, which provides assistance in the support and development of membership, programs, purchasing, and volunteer short listing and training. The final group is the Organizational and Management Group. The section provides services for consultation for individual YMCA groups across the USA. The group provides staff for four field offices, and provides support for eighteen Management Resource Centers (MRC).
The YMCA has developed an elaborate centralized administration and infrastructural system that ensure 2,227 individual Y organizations provide the public with services and programs. The products have consistent variety and quality (Reference for Business). The main organ does not micro-manage the operations of smaller organizational bodies, which maintain high levels of autonomy. The independent Ys are members of the World Alliance of YMCAs, which has members from 130 nations. Out of all 2,227 organizations, there are 967 main units with 1260 branches. The organizations have a plethora of programs and services for all age groups. Such include fitness and health, day camps, youth sports, child care, GED and job training, counselling for victims of abuse, international exchanges, mentoring, and prevention of substance abuse programs. The organization has managed to develop stable arrays of resources for income, has increased the number of volunteers and clients, and as managed a widespread outreach of programs that reflect the sensitivity the organization upholds on social change.
