Written by Emily Dickinson, “Tell all the Truth but tell it Slant” is poem number 1129 in Complete Poems. It is best known for the wise use of characteristic dishes, telegraphic style, and quatrain form. But what the poet is trying to describe in "Tell all the Truth but tell it Slant?" Is it just a celebrated poem or teaches something new? According to Emily Dickinson, we should always tell the truth, but accepting the whole truth may not be possible for us. It means we should tell the truth partially as we lack power and stamina to accept it.
The chances are that we will be overwhelmed by it; in the second stanza, the poet says that we should always explain things to our children in a light and friendly mood, meaning there is no need to show arrogance or rudeness to them. Instead, we should deal them with kindness, love, and care. Emily concludes it by stating that the truth if said or shared directly is powerful enough to blind us instantly.
