The world could have been like a butter knife which is dull, useless and does little without the comedians. Also, it could have been full of rude, arrogant and obnoxious people who create anti-utopia only. The comics help in keeping the world in motion; they allow people to shrug those nasty comments off their shoulders, laugh at each other and create a casual environment where everybody is happy. There are many definitions of comedians, but they are all related since the outcome is to make people laugh. Comedians have one aim of making their audience laugh, and their main emphasis is humor.
Most people think that they are funny, but only a few of them have that nerve of proving it in front of people be it either a live audience or behind the screens. Over the years as comedy has been improving, comedians have been classified into different categories such as solo stand-up comedians, prop comedians, and improvisational comedians. Whether one is a solo stand-up, improvisational or prop comedian, should be prepared to work for long hours sometimes for little or no pay at all for many years to make people laugh as well as earn a living.
Solo stand-up comedians are the most common ones in our society. The individual gets to the stage by himself and performs for a set time. There is intense competition to becoming a solo stand-up comedian and being on stage by oneself is sometimes so intimidating and isolating. Becoming a solo stand-up comedian does not need any formal schooling. The number of laughs one gets from the audience is what determines how successful they are.
