The story is based on the concept of a moral quandary, as illustrated by the author. The author creates an image of a child's suffering curtained from any privileges in the society that has impaired the happiness depicted from the festivals held in Omelas (Le Guin, p. 2). The idea of happiness creates a distinctive feature between two different social classes in Omelas.
 What do you think the story means? What are your interpretations of the ideas?
The story can be interpreted in the aspect of political allegory. The citizens who are enjoying the festival soft e summer are the privilege in the society, and thus they are enjoying the peace and the utopian happiness of the Omelas.
