Sister Carrie’s Character
In Sister Carrie, Carrie wants to live a better life in Chicago. She believes that she can only achieve the fantasies and desires in Chicago (Dreiser, 210). Although the young girl is beautiful, she is arrogant and ignorant about various issues in her society. In addition, Carrie is poor and with weird hope of achieving better in Chicago, she cannot develop herself in the effort to avoid poverty and achieve better standards of living (Dreiser, 210). Although the region she talks about might be an excellent option of outgoing and growth, she would consider working at her native land to enhance an escalated quality of life. The idea of living with fantasies of becoming successful and a specific place affects her life tremendously. The similar idea of living with unfulfilled desires pushes her to live home and go to stay with her married sister. Carrie could not settle since she always believed in achieving better, even after realizing various goals and objectives.
Carrie’s dream of achieving while the chair is rocking, again and again, plays an important role in the lives of all readers in society. The girls teach women in various contexts distinct lessons on the value of hard work and living to fulfill dreams while still straining towards the anticipated achievement. Although Carrie was brought in a working-class family, she turns out to become a reckless youth, only believing in one line of argument towards ultimate achievement.
