An Essay About Frankenstein: ‘Monstrous’ Creature Through Experiments

In Frankenstein, Walton writes letters to his sister about his intention to explore the North Pole, where he meets Frankenstein goes on to tell the story about the creature and the monster the narrates part of the story followed by Walton. The monster fails to interact with humans and cannot relate to them, and faces frustration and disappointment because of this and even the creator was not fond of the monster. As such, the creature sought revenge against its creator. Shelley mainly highlights, scientific exploration, the inability to form relations, loneliness, isolation rejection and revenge as represented by the experiences of the monster. The creature was filled with rage since it was rejected by Frankenstein and other humans, that it vowed revenge on its creator. “When I reflected on his crimes and malice, my hatred and revenge burst all bounds of moderation” (Shelley 105). The creature had no female companion and humans held negative perceptions, and Frankenstein had made various mistakes by making only one single hideous looking monster that was isolated and feared by all. The monster also believed he was cursed, giving it a reason for revenging against Victor and this was the only way to get pleasure from the miserable life. The monster murders Frankenstein’s family out of revenge and the creator also vows revenge for his family members’ death, and revenge consumes both victor and the monster as they are intent on destroying each other. In ignoring the importance of human ties in his experiments, the creator results in the monster’s isolation and loneliness Frankenstein pursues scientific success, but in the process, he is left feeling guilty by his inability to create a creature that can have normal relations with fellow creatures or humans. This is a loss to the society as the creature does not relate to anything or anyone, and this reflects a flaw in the scientific community, who are isolated from the society as isolation cannot just be reversed at will.
