The Odyssey as a Love Story
The Odyssey by Homer explores different types of relationships, but the grandest relationship was Odysseyus’ and Queen Penelope’s love. Throughout his journey, all he ever wanted to do was return to Ithaca to his wife and his son. Despite his relationships with other women (goddesses) who are arguably capable of compelling him to have relations with them, Odysseus kept true to his goal of returning to Ithaca, despite having the choice to terminate his dangerous journey and stay in some of the places he ventured in.
Even though Odysseus was with Circe, Calypso, and Princess Nausicaa, he wanted to go back to his old life at Ithaca.
