Lessons Learned from The Epic of Gilgamesh
After reading The Epic of Gilgamesh, I came to the conclusion that good leaders are born with the requisite skills necessary for effective governance. Leaders are obligated to offer guidance to the people they rule and protect them from the societal evils by ruling equitably and fairly. Good leaders put their wishes and interests second to those of the ordinary citizens, and they strive to ensure the growth and prosperity of every member of the society. Unlike Gilgamesh, good leaders do not exploit their people through forced labor or take advantage of their positions to molest the weak and vulnerable people in the society such as women and children (Johns-Putra 218).
