The debate about robots taking most of the traditional jobs has been unraveling for quite a sometime (Makortoff, 2015). This is a debate that can be traced back to the industrial revolution era (Crossley, 2014). Ideally the challenge has been the balance between the level of integration between the robots and the human labor. Part of the debate faction feels that the robots have largely taken away livelihood from human laborer’s. this is an aspect that could be addressed from two main perspective, one being that robots have to be moderated in their level of integration on the production system. the other approach is tied to the fact that, robots have brought production efficiency to higher level than could ever be achieved through human labor (Metz, 2015).
Thesis statement: integration of robots in the production system does not lead job loss but rather creates more diverse jobs and an efficient production system.
As Kevin Kelly puts in the essay ‘Better Than Human: Why Robots Will—and Must—Take Our Jobs’, the level of efficiency that automation has helped achieve could not have been done with the human labor (Nisen, 2017). Aspects such the production system in agriculture in the 19th century would be considered to be rudimentary today (International Federation of Robotics, 2013). The level of production efficiency that has been achieved in various industries is immense (Muro & Andes, 2015). Robots have brought about some elevated element of efficiency that would not been achieved through using human skills and efficiency (Khan, 2016).
