Anything either behind or before us is a small matter compared to all that lies right on our faces. This statement is supported by the fact that social media is now a universal technology which has made it possible for more sophisticated means of communication for everyone. The rapid advancement, adoption, and growth of the communication technologies have changed how people access as well as consume information. Social media include the online service portal, site for social networks or relations building where those who share common interests share backgrounds, activities, links, social forums, or even life connections. Despite of the risk of negative influences, social media network should be fully utilized to maximize its many positive influences in human lives.
Not again has it been such easy to make friends from anywhere like it is at this moment. This ease of creating links with others has been facilitated mainly by social networking websites. In last few decades, it was considered pretty hard to connect and make friends with others unless you were the overly outgoing person making it easier for you to make connections and conversation with people in places like parties (Laranjo et al. 248). However, the rise of gadgets such as the mobile phones changed the way people connected with each other. However, social media networks came up, and it changed the whole friend idea again. Now, it is possible to have even thousands of Facebook friends. Although you may not know them at a personal level or even get to spend time together, they are friends nonetheless. Making friends everywhere is the way forward, and it does not look like it will change.
Social media has increased the speed of communication. With our time being stretched more thinly by family and work commitments, social network websites have come to our rescue by offering us this chance to communicate in an efficient and speedy way. For example, to update a message on Twitter could take as much as 20 seconds. However, with the support of cross-posting feature, the message gets updated on other social networks that are on (Oh, Ozkaya, and LaRose 69). This message eventually reaches everyone targeted by the sender in an instant. Social media beats other media like phone calls because they avoid an unnecessary issue like the banter that they necessitate (Laranjo et al. 251). For instance, a caller or receiver of a phone call cannot start by going directly to the point or just hang up after passing the main message. Such create the notion of a downright rudeness. Such media dictates that you swap pleasantries as you begging the conversation and then later swap more and more pleasantries as you approach the natural conclusion of the conversation. Thus, social media helps us avoid all those time-wasting issues hence speeding up the communication.
Social media keeps us update about what is happening across the world. Besides the inner circle, you concentrate more on that involves close family members and friends that social network websites ensure easy and effective communication with, they have much power to bring the world open for you.
