The Ending of Michael Ondaatje’s The English Patient 
The English Patient presents an anecdote in which Michael Ondaatje converges characters of different nationalities and races. The novel that comprises of people; a badly burned Englishman, a thief, a Sikh sapper, and a nurse, who, compelled by unfortunate circumstances, form an improbable relationship, and together discover the poignant wounds they harbor as they unveil the intrigues surrounding their respective pasts. Ondaatje gives The English Patient a tragic ending to bring to the fore the adverse consequences of World War II on different characters who seem to fight their political histories and find love, amidst dark clouds and mysteries covering their covering histories.
