Differences between American Chinese Food and Chinese Food
When it comes to cultural cuisine, the Chinese have a wide range. The rich culture back in China, fortunately, has been imported to the U.S. by the Chinese immigrants and as a result, some of these cuisines too. American Chinese food is not original but at least something very close to the original version of Chinese food. It is a slight modification of real Chinese food. These dishes are served mostly in regions or countries outside China. In the U.S., the Chinese of American descent is the main group that enhances this culture. The most widely known of them all is Jennifer 8 Lee, whose narratives and experiences, as well as her descent as a Chinese American, offers more insight. Through her, the Chinese cuisine is dissected, through her journal Fortune Cookie Chronicles and her video The Search for General Tso.

As initially mentioned, Jennifer provides a lens through which Chinese food can be appreciated in the U.S. It has even opened more opportunities for Chinese Americans to prepare this type of food. The meals were primarily served at many North American Chinese Restaurants. These restaurants who adapted the new cooking culture and their types of foods, but still held onto some American element, hence creating some differences between the Chinese American food and the Chinese food from native China.
Differences between Native Chinese food and American Chinese Food
The Chinese Food in America is a little different from the authentic one back in China because of the American ingredients therein. It is prepared through subsuming of certain ingredients that people commonly cook, serve, and eat in America. American dishes are usually composed of carrots, rice, tomatoes, and noodles. The real Chinese food is majorly seasoned with different spices like pepper, garlic, and onions, especially during cold seasons. Chinese food is more seasoned than American Chinese Food. The American Chinese Food is seasoned but is accompanied by hot soups. Chinese Foods consist of different tastes and flavors, while Consistent flavors characterize American Chinese Foods. These consistent flavors are rather new considering that mostly, the Chinese would often prefer using natural spices instead of the artificial additives that are so often used in the preparation of Chinese American food in the U.S.
The other difference is that American Chinese dishes are mostly fried and largely buttered. This is in line with American culture, which has much of its cuisine either fried, roasted, or buttered. While it might not be the exact case, American Chinese food almost borders on junk because of a subtle exaggeration of frying of the foods. The American culture has very little value for vegetables, and as a result, treat vegetables as a side dish. On the other hand, traditional Chinese foods put much emphasis on vegetables. Vegetables are commonly found in American Chinese dishes in the form of salads, and they include cabbage salads, tomatoes, and carrots.
