Briefly describe the general setting.
Describe at least one aspect of the experience that you found especially interesting. For example, you might write about a particular work of art, cultural artifact, song, dance section, scene in a play, costumes or lighting, a particular actor or vocalist, etc. Explain what impressed you, and why. Your reaction can be positive or negative, as long as you offer an explanation.
Identify and use at least two things you've learned in class in your essay. For example, if you visit a museum discuss an artist you've learned about in the course, or tie your experience to a class discussion. American Indian Arts Celebration (AIAC), which is a yearly event, offered a lot to everyone who was in attendance. The event took place at Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, in the Big Cypress, which is between Naples and Fort Lauderdale off Alligator alley. This museum is exceptional in its own right and deserves a visit even in the absence of the festival. Whenever it is opened, there is a multi-screen presentation of exciting dioramas and exhibits that explain the rich history of the Seminole people (Bidney, 2016). In Florida, U.S., the tribe of the Seminole is recognized by the Federal Government as an Indian tribe. History has it, that it is the only existing tribe in the U.S. that did not agree to sign a peace treaty, based on how they were mistreated and almost wiped out of existence. According to Bidney (2016), this happened in the year 1835-1842 and was branded the second Seminole war.
Many of the frequent visitors who come for the festival are always keen on the leather work, paintings, basketry, beadwork and even photography. The most stunning performance, which was done at noon that stole my interest, came from Nakotah LaRance from Mexico, the finest hoop dancer of all time (Bidney, 2016). He had won the world championships six times. I learnt a lot from his performance since this was my first time to encounter the same. His moves with the hoops were a true reflection of the beginning of life. The hoops were initially used by the ancient native Indians as a tool for sharpening their targeting skills for the accuracy, used when hunting (encyclopedia.com, 2016).
