Wordsworth was in every way the pioneer of the Romanticism movement. In fact, the British Romanticism literary movement is in most cases traced to the Lyrical Ballads, a Wordsworth masterpiece collection of poems. Why was Wordsworth important?
Wordsworth used nature as the inspiration for his compositions. He threw his imagination on natural things including ordinary people and incidents making them seem supernatural. Hence, he contributed a unique function to the Romanticism Poetry. Wordsworth uses imagery to make strange or common things to look beautiful and strange. In “Intimidation Ode” it seems “the earth and common sight” is “appareled in Celestial light” CITATION The07 \l 1033 (Natarajan, 2007). Indeed, he presented in uncommon even the meanest flower or a simple shepherd. This is what makes Wordsworth a true Romantic poet.
