Parent-Child Relationship can be described as a union that does not miss its fair share of troubles. In certain instances, there are happy moments, while there are moments that are not worth remembering in some instances. It is, however, essential to note that the relationships are bound by blood. The union can, however, break or remain intact. Some stories have been written that regard parents and children, which continue to inspire many literature lovers. Rules of the Game by Amy Tan and Selected Stories by Alice Munro are exciting stories that inspire the parent-child relationship.
The story by Amy Tan concerns Waverly Mother, who taught her child about getting invisible strength when the girl was six years old. The mother taught the child about the strategy of getting respect and winning arguments. In a good instance, Waverly and her brothers got presents gifts from members of their church. Waverly was clever enough as she engaged with an older man in playing the game of chess that she went on to win (Gale). Waverly was able to get attention from other children and members of society as she was able to show how well she was updated in life matters, having been taught by her mother. At a certain point, Waverly would be sent by her mother to go to the market place and other places where she would get home having accomplished her missions.
