Jola villagers adhered to a preconceived notion that tilling the soil does not only serve as a means to support their livelihood, but they also believed that it is the fundamental prerequisite towards a prosperous world. They also underscored a culture of hard work, which is a vital element towards prosperity. Secondly, the dedication and enthusiasm of Ampa Badji’s maternal grandpa towards work, despite his wanting health condition and prevalence of attack from colonial soldiers, is such a motivation.
The dedication of villagers towards hard work, amid losing their loved ones in the process, is a clear show of their inherent zeal to change the world irrespective of the existence of hurdles.

1) I ate rice at my cousin’s birthday party. We were served with a lot of so much so that none of us finished their portions. The next thing was to collect the residues and dump them in the dustbins. Reading today’s article on how tiresome and tedious it is to grow and harvest rice changes my way of treating the already processed one. I learn that I should treat rice with decency and diligence.
