Faces of Earth
Many scholars and explorers have come forth to try to explain the origin of the earth and everything in it, including how animals, and human beings, have adapted living on earth. The earth has different geological and climatic conditions that the living creatures have learned to live. Faces of the earth is a series of television documentaries aired by BBC aiming at explaining how the planet earth is, how it came to be, and how living things have adapted to live in it. There are many documentaries under the broad umbrella of "faces of the earth." I am going to discuss the Human World and Shaping the Planet. I picked the two because of the issues they aim to explain about the earth. Human World is also known as Human Planet, and it describes the human species and outlines human relationships with the natural world by demonstrating how humans have adapted to live in all the different and diverse environments found on earth. Shaping the Plane (also called Planet earth) caught my attention because it shows how human beings started to be curious and wanted to learn more about the planet in the past, the present, and even from the perspective of the future.
The Human World and Shaping the Planet are two related documentaries in many ways. They aim at explaining the phenomenon on the earth’s surface and hence inform the human race. Human World has categorized different environments on earth according to their geological formation, such as the oceans, deserts, the northern regions, the jungles, mountains, and rivers, among others (Faces of Earth – A Human World 00: 16:08-00:20:34).
