Important Points of the Reading
Food security is a global issue that requires long term and workable solutions. There is a need for rethinking on issues like starvation in India. The country is a leading producer of grain and often has an extra surplus. However, her population experiences an insufficient supply of other foods significant in having a balanced diet. The situation is replicated in several countries, making it difficult to have a sustainable food supply for millions of people living in various parts of the world, more so in Africa and Asia.
Food Component Experiences Related To the Reading
1. Food for the homeless: This is one of the food resources kitchens under the management of Montana Food Banks bases in Auckland, New Zealand. The organization is doing impressive work done feeding the homeless people and those unable to have sufficient food supply. Such initiatives are critical to assist a quarter of the world’s population who live in absolute poverty (Anderson 208). Even in some of the wealthiest countries such as New Zealand, they are people who do not have adequate income.
2. The cuisine of Assam: Addressing starvation in India requires creativity. One of the challenges in India is the influence of religion on the type of diet.
