The Suffragist Movement Comes of Age
The article on new voices for women and African American rights was a vital source of information regarding the challenges these leaders faced in their struggle for equality. Racial discrimination and the lack of voting rights for women were some of the issues of injustice that these leaders were trying to address. These leaders wanted to ensure that they created a justice society where men and women were treated equally regardless of color. However, although these leaders had a common goal, the strategies used to achieve these goals differed significantly. The paper will assess the strategies implemented by different leaders to achieve equality and how these strategies changed.
As seen from the reading, different leaders came forward to fight discrimination based on gender and color and also advocate for women voting rights. These leaders were determined to ensure that they created a suitable environment for all the people and that everyone would feel at home. I would say that their initial efforts were successful because they gained recognition from the government regarding their grievances. For example, leaders like Jane Addams and Florence Kelley played instrumental roles in the fight for equality (U.S. History, 2022).
