The renaissance period happens to be one of the most revolutionary times in Europe. It is a period that is largely considered to the rebirth of the human society with a redefinition of quite a number of elements in the culture. The period came after the middle ages and before the modern history. It was a break from the classical culture and an adoption of new ventures in the society, with a cultural shift. This brought on the aspects people trying to become the best in their fields and making contributions to the society on how best to express themselves and their ideas (Legacy.mos.org). There were quite a number of key figures at the time that brought on the wave of humanist philosophies. They had a massive impact in the society, such their contributions to the humanist approaches are studied to date, from their impact in the society at the time.
One of the most important figures in the period and one that caused tidal shifts in the society was William Shakespeare who was an actor, writer, poet and playwright of his generation. To this date, William is considered to be one of the greatest English language writers (Biography.com). Most of his works have been translated into most of the major languages and often performed to this date more than most other pieces from other writers. He largely contributed to the amplification of the concept of self in the society.
