In her autobiography, Emma Goldman evaluates American radicalisms by explaining the two approaches to antiauthoritarian action and seeking to emancipate the public through contesting both the market and state agents. However, adversely politics weaken when the radicals act for the people who share few experiences. On the other hand, empathetic politics encourages the radicals to learn and educate the masses on the acts that encourage the radicals to take action; these measures are known to promote solidarity. In this post, I will discuss Goldman’s definition of anarchy and link her anarchism to other authors in American political thought.
According to Goldman, anarchism is the liberation of the human mind from state of religions and freeing the body from property pressure, freeing people from the oppression from the government. It was geared towards making the masses enjoy freedom through promoting social order. As an anarchist and feminist, Goldman focused on her antiauthoritarian politics by demanding for new policies that aim at seeking solidarity in shared experiences. As a teenage migrant from Russia, she was among the top influential radical in the United States. In addition, her anarchist motives led her to lead labor movements and freedom of speech while fighting against poverty, conspiration and war.
Anarchy impulses men and women to think, investigate and analyze every situation. As a philosophy of new social order that focus liberty, anarchy rests on the materialistic basis of life.
