Ancient Greece: Time of Wonder
One of the greatest civilizations that flourished in history was the civilization of Ancient Greece. It lasted from 13th-9th century BC to about 600 AD. Greek Civilization became the backbone of Western civilization from the culture and political and philosophical ideals that were passed down to Early middle ages and Byzantine era.
Greece in the Archaic Period was made up from free states, called Polis, or city state. The polis of Athens included around 2,500 sq kilometers of region, yet different Polis with littler territories of 250 sq kilometers.About three centuries after the Late Bronze Age fall of Mycenaean Greece, Greek urban poleis started to shape in the eighth century BC, introducing the time of Archaic Greece and colonization of the Mediterranean Basin. This was trailed by the time of Classical Greece, a time that started with the Greco-Persian Wars, enduring from the fifth to fourth hundreds of years BC. Because of the victories by Alexander the Great of Macedonia, Hellenistic human progress prospered from Central Asia toward the western end of the Mediterranean Sea. The Hellenistic period arrived at an end with the triumphs and additions of the eastern Mediterranean world by the Roman Republic, which built up the Roman area of Macedonia in Roman Greece, and later the region of Achaea amid the Roman Empire.
Established Greek culture, particularly logic, impacted antiquated Rome, which conveyed a rendition of it to numerous parts of the Mediterranean Basin and Europe. Hence, Classical Greece is for the most part thought to be the fundamental culture which gave the establishment of present day Western culture and is viewed as the support of Western development.
