The Pleistocene, also called the Ice Age, refers to the geological epoch that ended nearly twelve thousand years ago. It is believed to be the core period of repeated glaciations (Habu 2014). One of its major characteristics was climate change. In those days, a lot of climatic changes took place in Near East. The Near East compromised of Turkey (East Thrace and Anatolia), Egypt, and Western Asia. In addition to certain climatic changes, the very first fossils were formed in the sediment record. All these changes took place about 2.4 million years ago.
Another characteristic is the chronology. The chronology of the Pleistocene developed when the glacial succession was observed and studied. In the United States and Europe, it was found to be having soils that developed due to a warm climate. Other than this, marine deposits were considered to be the main cause of the glacial succession.
The early post-Pleistocene societies in the Near East responded to the Holocene in a unique way. The main transitions took place nearly forty years ago (Habu 2014). It was the time when a large number of animal species were disappearing from the face of the Earth. The response was given by saving certain species like mammoths, ground sloths, and mastodons. They took a lot of time to make these changes since the Holocene was quite different from the Pleistocene.
As a result, plants and animals shifter and people belonging to the New World were required to adapt to the changing environment so that they could easily access the resources and things they needed to ensure their survival. It was not so difficult for humans, but for animals and plants, these types of changes were difficult to go with.
