Los Angeles International Airport
Los Angeles International Airport is the second largest airport in the United States. The airport is located in Los Angeles and 10 miles from West Hollywood. The airport was designed to connect Los Angeles with the world directly through accommodation of the most recent air transportation modes. Since the City of Los Angeles hosts some of the best entertainment hubs in the world, it must have an international airport with the capacity to provide quality services to customers from different parts of the world. The airport is designed to provide international and domestic flyers with the best air travel experiences in terms of accessibility, comfort, security, and the use of current technology in its operations. The airport comprises of nine terminals that are evenly located to ensure smooth movement from one terminal to another. The LAX shuttle is a common phenomenon in the airport due to its current state and fashionable interior. Los Angeles International Airport runways are designed according to international standards and the most recent technology to guarantee safety, comfort, and endurance.
Los Angeles International Airport has two runways, runway 06L, and Runway 06R. 06L has a length of 2, 721 meters, and a width of 46 meters while 06R has a length of 3, 318 meters, and 46 meters' width. Runway 06 R is the most common runway due to its long length and its ability to accommodate aircrafts of all sizes. Most international airports have different runways for dealing with high traffic and for safety reasons. An aircraft could stall in one of the runways, leaving the air traffic control with another runway for other emergencies. It is costly for an international airport to have only one runway since airlines lose fuel as they divert to other airports for an emergency landing. Therefore, the two runways are some of the features that make Los Angeles Airports one of the safest and modern International airports in the United States.
The type of runway is determined by the type of airport, general airfield, or commercial airport. The Los Angeles International airport runways are built using commercial airport standards, design, and material. Runway construction follows similar techniques as the road construction process.
