Introduction
Sex education is important in schools since it plays a key role in enabling teenagers to make informed decisions when it comes to their sex lives. Sex education is essential in enabling students to understand issues associated with sexual activities, sexual identities, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and early pregnancies. It is therefore evident that when young people are provided information pertaining to their sexuality and sexual health, they will be in a better position to avoid the dangers associated with unprotected sex (Silva 1). Furthermore, scholars have argued that sex education should not solely focus on abstinence programs alone, where students are advised against having sex. Sex programs should be comprehensive such that teenagers gain enough information on the most effective ways of managing their sexual health. This paper argues that sex education is important in schools for healthier lifestyles and understanding concepts of sexuality among students.
Comprehensive sex education is essential in enabling students to lead a healthy sexual lifestyle. A special sex education program needs to be developed to enable learners to understand the intricacies involved with sex issues. Scholars argue that sex program should not be limited to, and it should involve more programs that enable students to understand how sex affects their bodies (LeBrun and Omar 1). Individuals who understand their sexuality and their sexual health, they will be in a better position of avoiding risky sexual behaviors. Sex education is an important tool that reduces the prevalence of teenage pregnancies as well as sexually transmitted diseases. Teens who understand ways of using protection are less likely to have sex without protecting themselves. This not only reduces the prevalence of early pregnancies, but it also reduces exposure to sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, comprehensive sex education is essential in enabling students to improve their knowledge of sex and sexuality, and also develop skills of responding when they are exposed to risky situations.
Over the years, scholars have found that more students are exposed to sexually transmitted diseases due to limited information on ways of reacting when exposed to risky situations. On most occasions, teenagers often find themselves exposed to environments where they can engage in unprotected sex. For instance, teen parties where most people drink alcohol and become intoxicated usually makes them lose control and control their sexual behavior.
