Summary
Responsibility accounting is a new system whereby responsibility is dispensed to control costs (Biswas 203). The individual responsible for incurring the expenses is personally held liable. There are various systems used in budgetary and cost control to ensure that costs are controlled. These individuals are provided with the necessary authority for them to be able to monitor their performance (Biswas 203). The emphasis of responsibility accounting is somewhat on the individual as opposed to itself. There are predetermined standards that are used as a performance tool. It is tailored to ensure the individuals are responsible and can be able to account for their actions.
Introduction
For a while, organizations such as ours have been hemorrhaging resources due to a lack of responsibility. There have been errors that have been attributed by personnel who are tasked with ensuring accounting standards have been upheld despite all the controls and systems that are put in place to ensure that there is no pilferage of funds. All the rules have been followed to the latter. Due to the recent increase in operational costs, we should research to implement responsibility accounting to run the organization better.
Research Question
The question that should be posed here is whether responsibility accounting should be instituted in our organization or not? This research should address the following question: How will the organization be able to institute responsibility accounting despite all the accounting controls it has created?
