For this assignment, you will compose a memo addressed to the union employees of Metropolitan Hotels(I am a communications officer in Metropolitan Hotels) that informs them of the outcome of this meeting in an on-going salary negotiation.
The Scenario:
Hourly employees at Metropolitan Hotels are unionized. There hasn't been a raise for them in several years, and the union has been aggressively negotiating a raise for the coming year. Unfortunately, revenueforthe past year was lower than expected, and raises are not currently in the budget.
The negotiations have recently been complicated by the release of bonuses for executive employees for the fiscal year previous to the past year. This has, understandably, caused some controversy and is creating some ill-will between hourly employees and executives.
As a communications officer, you have been asked to sit in on the following meeting between Katharine, who represents Metropolitan Hotels, and Alisa, who represents the employee union, and communicate the outcome to the hourly employees.

This communication relates to the ongoing contract negotiations for the hourly employees at Metropolitan Hotels. Employees have worked for a couple of years but earned the same remuneration over time. Salaries have remained constant, and no individual has received any bonuses. The management understands the nature of the concern and is committed to reaching a long-lasting and amicable solution. Also, the company shares in the concern over the recent award of bonuses.
Salaries
For the last four years, workers have earned the same salary amount. The case has not only applied to hourly employees, but also all other workers at different levels in the organizational structure. Management is aware of the current economic times that may prove too unbearable to manage with the pay. While the institution recognizes the union's aggressive push for a seven percent increment this coming year, we have tried to review the budget items to allocate funds for this purpose, possibly. Regrettably, the demands are currently infeasible since the current performance cannot sustain the increment. Please note that that...
