The Federal Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA) investigated a welding company, D&J Ironworks. The organization probed the conduct of workers who sparked a fire, leading to the death of two Boston firefighters in Back Bay. The company failed to adhere to safety precautions, thus causing the fatal blaze. OSHA recognized the incident as a needless, tragic fire and issued a fine of $58,000 against the welding organization. According to Cronin, the agency realized that the company lacked effective fire prevention strategies. Besides, D&J failed to train its employees on fire precautions.
OSHA and D&J Ironworks would be in a potential lawsuit for violating workplace safety standards.
