The main stages of sculpting that are the focus of our essay came in different centuries and were accompanied by many changes brought by the differences. Combined, the three steps Archaic, classical and high classical, are rich in history, culture, Art, and religion as they existed in both sacred and secular human forms. From nude to more decent, colorful to natural, the development of Greek sculptures is intriguing with the creative and critical thinking nature of the sculptures evident. Every sculpture had an underlying mean from politics to religion, and the messages were clear from the onset. The paintings were different but all beautiful, leading to the emergencies of copies from those inspired. The sculptures excavated that are by the archaeologists have deteriorated in color but are still rich in history. The essay seeks to introduce the development of human figures tracing from the early archaic to the high classical.
The early Archaic period of 650 to 480 BC saw great inspiration from Egyptian monuments, although those of Greek was not religion-related. They did do not copy every aspect showing that they w creative and only needed guidance and technical expertise (Benson, 45). The statues were more rigid and showed movement in one foot in some of the figures. There were no emotions, but a characteristic Archaic smile that symbolized the person was alive. The early sculptures of this century were half-baked showing small portions of humans but slowly developed into standing men. The famous sculpture that comes up when talking about this period is the Kouros statues of a youthful man. It was made of stone like most of that time that were also made of either clay or bronze. The standing forms showed that the ancient creators wanted to display the world. We can conclude that the Greeks Archaic sculpture was an improved and sophisticated innovative form of the Egyptian ones because of the similarities. They did not just copy the Art and culture of others but took it and incorporated in their own, thus improving (Benson, 46). Their innovative and creative nature is what resulted in the Classical era.
