The Role of Engineers and Spatial Scientists in the Development of the Earth's Resources
Engineers and spatial scientists will need to take an increasingly significant role in the sustainable management of the world resources. The preposition is true; this is due to a number of reasons shown. First, the failure of development strategies that should have been put in place by the engineers and the spatial scientist very many years ago is rather undertaken by the international community. This is through rethinking on how to improve infrastructure and the associated engineering fields. This was deliberated in the Millennium summit of 2000. This lead to the world leader adopting the millennium declaration landmark statement that was out to promote human welfare, international trade and protection of the environment (Macpherson, 2005, p.1132). These strategies lead to the adoption of Millennium Development Goals widely known as MDGs. Therefore, to ensure that MDGs are realized, Engineers as well as spatial scientist must be in the fore front.
Engineers and spatial scientist plays an important role in addressing challenges that are associated with eliminating poverty and hunger in the world. Due to ever rising population in the world, engineers and spatial scientist has no option other than increasing their roles in management of the natural resources. Their potential of doing so is evident by the function they have played in the Latin America and in the Middle East through industrialization process. This contribution towards sustainable development thus created job opportunity in advancing agriculture and agricultural firms (Wei, 2005, p.125). However, the engineers are required to come up with more technological measures that are required to be integrated in the overall improvement of the human welfare.
