1 Health insurance involves the part of the social security that assures citizens the provision of the various necessary health care in return for the monetary tax contributions. One of health insurance's main contributions and benefits is access to care. It should be noted that people who are insured or have health insurance automatically have access to health care. Those who are not insured are most likely to have limited or no access to health care (National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), 2017, p1). Therefore, health insurance is a significant determinant of access to health care. Unarguably, the patients that have access to care, especially timely and appropriate care, can prevent illnesses, manage the chronic condition or even acute episodes, and avoid the conditions from becoming complicated (NCHS, 2017, p.2). Apart from having access to health care, there are also other benefits of having health insurance, including that insured people are more likely to be satisfied with the quality of care than those who do not have health insurance. This is because these people are not affected by the costs and can conveniently get the necessary treatment and access to the medical personnel without any disturbance (Lee et al., 2022). The other is that insured people are more likely to be healthy than their uninsured counterparts as they can easily get medication for their conditions before they worsen.
