End of Placement Report: Social Work On Sheltered Accommodation
Introduction
My placement was social work at a sheltered accommodation. Most of the residents were homeless before being referred to the sheltered accommodation. The sheltered accommodation handled clients older that fifty years of age by providing them with affordable living spaces. Sheltered accommodations make managing life for the elderly easier (British Standards Institute Staff 1912). Moreover, it is convenient for the residents’ family members who might be busy with work or working on their individual families (Leigh 2011). The motivation behind sheltered housing is to empower the residents to keep living autonomously as conceivable while furnishing them with related help. At the point when one lives in sheltered accommodation one keeps up with the obligations and autonomy. Sheltered accommodation plans are for individuals who are for the most part dynamic and free. It is not for those looking for a consideration choice.
My Tasks
At the sheltered accommodation my main task was to attend to the residents’ needs. I would make routine visits to the allocated residents. Additionally, I would keep record of their needs and an inventory of the products and services required by each. As a social specialist I served the role of a caseworker for the destitute. In this job, I would assist occupants with getting government advantages, for example, disability benefits, social security, handicap, Medicaid and food stamps. I would also help the occupant track down other required documentation and help with getting long term housing. Occasionally, I carried out training sessions on health awareness and substance abuse and had personal talks with residents on the challenges they were facing.
There are different schemes at the sheltered accommodation: the free accommodation with minimum provisions, the advanced scheme with advanced care, and the health and disability scheme that required health workers alongside social workers. Living in shielded convenience properties with sheltered housing has a remarkable number of advantages. As the free living plans are planned in view of old individuals, they're made in light of the straightforward entry. Highlights, for example, access slopes, handrails, lifts, and wide door jambs which will make life living as the occupants age. These elements likewise give security to the occupants to forestall mishaps happening, like stumbling over advances. Furthermore, available washrooms are worked in the vast majority of our condos.
There are social benefits in living in sheltered accommodations. Being set in shel...
