Visual & Performing Arts Essay: Secondary Research About Bruce Riley

Essay Instructions:

write about the Chicago painter Bruce Riley. And I really like his works through improvisation and experimentation. One thing that attracts me to his works is that these paintings do not symbolize specific things, but may merely convey emotions.
My major is graphic design, it is best to have more insights related to the major
The Text:
This brief also asks you to conduct independent secondary research into your chosen artist/designer. You are then required to write a 1000-word text in response to their work.
The main purpose of this text is to show why this artist/designer is relevant today. What is the ideology, motivation and intentions behind their work? Think about how their work connects to and reflects wider social, cultural and political ideas/issues. This is about enquiry and analysis and not a report.
First think about what questions arise from your designer’s work. What is the topic that you will draw from their work and research? This will help you come up with a strong Research Question that will in turn lead your enquiry. Then present your ideas in writing following these steps:
Describe the chosen artist/designer. Explore what their work is about, describe it, how is it produced, what does it make you think about?
Think about associations/connotations this designer brings and relate it to a bigger theme of your choice. What are the bigger themes you could relate their work to? For example, environmentalism, culture, identity, consumerism, craft.
Define what your chosen bigger theme/context means - do this by referring to an author you have discovered from your research into these bigger themes (and not from a dictionary!)
Reference these ideas. Use ideas and theories to analyse the artist/designers’ work. Use the Harvard system for referencing.

Riley's Paintings
Bruce Riley was born in Ohio, the USA. He is a re-known painter and made paintings for a living. The music and culture of his days had a significant influence on his art. During his time, there was freedom and enlightenment. This made Bruce Riley begin to understand painting and the means of using libraries. The painting's art took on a significant part of his living that became a driving force in how he painted. In the 1980's he worked as a freelance painter and painted full-time.
His biggest highlight was a five-minute film he made about his works. The documentary became popular and has continued to spread across the world. The film has started new events for filmmakers to focus on painters. Bruce Riley's paintings have inspired people to experience life without having a lot of concerns and worries. This has helped us forget the daily frustrations of life that we experience every day. His painting has reminded us that everything is simply beautiful and wonderfully created. The thing that most attracts me to his work is that his art does not symbolize specific things but may also communicate feelings.
Bruce Riley's paintings today serve the significance of reviving the iconic lifestyle of the 1960s. His art draws me in and leaves me amazed due to his incredible techniques employed. He uses repetition and fluid compositions and incorporates the whole body to make the painting truly great. There is beauty in his painting that is found in his mixing of many colors. It possesses excellent luster and a range of dominant green and blue to give it exquisite beauty that often pulls you in. His use of both old and new techniques makes his fusion of beauty and art completely colorful.
Having seen his works on the internet, Bruce shows excellent knowledge in experimenting with a vast range of designs and forms that are always brimming with color. His painting is well planned and contains barely noticeable errors, making the art unique and leaving the viewer completely preoccupied. His art makes me think of rainbows and candy. His art's intuition and flow play a significant role in creating beautiful paintings by mixing and dripping paint on his black canvas (McCarthy and Thompson., 2019). Similar to how marbled paper is created, Riley spreads his paint on a flat wet surface. As soon as the painting process be...
