You should reflect on the process of production and the development of your journalistic skills. YOU MUST INCLUDE A RANGE OF ACADEMIC SOURCES, REFERENCE USING HARVARD STYLE, AND PROVIDE A BIBLIOGRAPHY.
Your submission should follow these specific style guidelines:
The report should demonstrate your ability to think critically and professionally. You should reflect on the choices you made while working on the project and the skills you developed and consider:
Your approach to the story.
The planning, preparation and research for the story
Self-reflection on development of your skills and learning trajectory.
Your engagement with a range of existing podcast/audio-journalism output, using this to contextualise your own production choices (remember to reference these works using the Harvard style)
Your engagement with a range of academic sources (remember to use Harvard referencing, and include a bibliography)

Podcasting journalism is rapidly gaining popularity over traditional media, including TV, radio, and print outlets. Podcasts thrive on technological advancements that imply an audience can easily access the podcasts via the internet. In most cases, podcasters exploit current events and trends, inform the audience about a topic, and entertain. According to Whipple et al. (2022, p. 40), podcasts are a form of journalism that entails the distribution of files, mostly in audio format, to a subscribed user’s gadget, often through an RSS feed. An example of successful podcasts includes the Joe Rogan Experience, which currently attracts both local and international audiences. The popularity of podcasts is drawn from the podcasters’ ability to cover dynamic and complex issues that barely receive considerable time in mainstream media. In other words, they are flexible and enjoy diversity when compared to the old media’s newsroom.
Podcast production practice includes generating the content, which starts at the pre-production phase, where prepping and writing precede. Thereafter, the podcaster produces, which includes the recording and editing, and the post-production, where the package is published to the audiences. It is important to target an audience using a wide range of topics, including documentaries, personal life experiences, celebrity gossip, and other areas of interest. A report by Reuters Institute for Journalism reveals that podcasts are challenging the influence of traditional media such as radio and print (Newman, 2021). The audience reaches, especially those that embrace humorous content, is also growing, which indicates that its value will be worth billions of dollars in less than a decade. It is advisable to have a cold open, which includes a snippet highlighting a guest, in case the format includes an interview. Thereafter, the podcaster teases the audience by briefly mentioning the episode details. In this case, they have to ensure they adopt catchy phrases, humor, or informative information to draw attention, ultimately limiting the desire to try another podcast before the actual episode begins or is fully introduced by welcoming the listeners and sharing the theme of the week. Consistent podcasters attract a more loyal fan base, who enjoy some level of addiction to the content.
The podcast can assume different formats. In the case of audio output, for example, the podcaster is compelled to prioritize their budget and purpose to influence the decision about microphones. As noted earlier, a common format entails interviews and panel discussions where the podcaster acts as the host to guests who delve into a topic of interest. For example, if the show includes a discussion about sports, in this case, the Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC), the guest list can include popular MMA fighters and retired athletes such as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Israel Adesanya.
