Trophy Hunting as a Legitimate effort against Wildlife Decimation
The act of trophy hunting can be viewed as a very destructive activity to our ecology, however, in today’s society, trophy hunting can also generate large incomes that can be used to fund wildlife sanctuaries. Trophy hunting is actually beneficial to the conservation of endangered species because it generates the needed monetary resource to sustain wildlife conservation efforts. By regulating the killing of a few members of the species, the wildlife effort can prosper by using the money that rich people pay to hunt a few of these animals. Preserving wildlife in a pristine state needs resources to fund the protection of land, the employment of human services, the systematic management of the company, and other essential elements to protect wildlife. One of the true threats to animal populations is the presence of Organized Crime. Organized crime is a systematic criminal activity that generates money through illegal means such as unregulated hunting of animals and cutting of trees. Such activities decimate the population of the animals without generating an income that could help preserve the animals. In the stereotyped perspective about Trophy Hunting, it can be perceived as a senseless killing of animals by the upper class who can pay to exploit our ecology, however, in reality, the money that these people pay are usually the only income generating project that fund the protection of the animal kingdom. In our society today, removing Trophy Hunting altogether would actually cause more disadvantages than benefits. It would cut the resources that are sustaining the efforts of the wildlife conservation.
