Conflict And Loss Of Identity Since Long Peace
Consider the readings from the weeks on group formation as well as the decline of war. How might identity relate to conflict? If war is in decline, does that mean that identity is becoming less important to individuals over time, or that our identities are shifting beyond the nation- state? Is that possible? Why or why not? Or are we coming up with different ways to express our identity that are non-violent? What might the authors of the readings say about these topics?
Essays should be 500-1000 words approximately and are worth 10% of your grade. They are due at the beginning of your section during the week of April 2. If you do not turn in your assignment personally to your TA, it will not be accepted. Late papers lose one letter grade a day.
