Technology today is advancing at an extreme pace. As each new advancement is made, we need to consider how this will ultimately affect our lives. Some begin as great improvements, but sometimes get sidetracked into harmful applications. Some begin as military developments, but further developments create items or applications that greatly benefit society.
In this assignment you are to write an essay taking a FOR or AGAINST stance on your chosen emerging technology. If you are FOR this application, you will be writing in support of further developing and utilizing the technology. If you are AGAINST this, you will be writing in support of NOT furthering the development or using the technology. You are to have an opening paragraph stating your initial stance, three body paragraphs with different points that support your stance, and one closing paragraph that summarizes your view. You MUST take one side or the other! Your essay should be a strong FOR or a strong AGAINST, do not include some of each.
Each body paragraph must include at least one (but no more than two) properly embedded reference to support your point. This embedded reference can be no longer than one line across the page.
When you are researching and looking for supporting facts, consider concepts of environmental issues, security, safety, etc. These concepts will strengthen your argument. Avoid focusing on financial implications.
Both the embedded references and the reference list are to be documented in APA format. Use only reputable references (no Wikipedia).

One of the greatest indications of technology evolution is the cellular network. Over the years, cellular networks have evolved from the first generation (1G) to the most recent one, fifth generation (5G) networks. This evolution has been instrumental in shaping today's telecommunication landscape, given the vital role of cellular networks in mobile communication and wireless networking. The 5G networks are promising, especially in addressing the issues that the 4G network has been unable to address. For instance, 5G wireless network technologies promise higher capabilities in providing high reliability, high speed, rapid response, and energy efficiency while still guaranteeing a high user experience quality, something the 4G network has been able to accomplish (Yu et al., 2017). Based on these capabilities, 5G networks have the potential to change and redefine communication as well as address some of the environmental issues facing society in the 4G era. However, the evolution and development of the 5G network have been surrounded by controversies, with some people calling for the discontinuation of the 5G wireless network technologies due to security and safety concerns. The issues raised regarding the 5G network are valid and should be considered. However, these issues should not lead to the dismissal of the 5G network, especially given its potential implications in positively changing the world. Instead, people should support the 5G network by exploring its significance. As the 5G networks evolve, they will promote Internet of Things (IoT) applications growth, enhance autonomous services, and mitigate climate change.
IoT and its applications have grown significantly due to improved mobile connectivity in recent years. More mobile devices have become connected, and this increased connectivity has been attributed to the 5G network. According to Li et al. (2018), the 5G network has become a significant driver of the growth of IoT and its applications because of 5G’s ultra-low latency, improved wireless communication coverage, and speedy connectivity. The success of the IoT depends on the reliability and speed at which devices connect and communicate with each other. The 5G network’s ultra-low latency facilitates quicker response times compared to 4G networks. This quicker response allows devices and applications running on 5G to connect and share data almost in real time. It also allows them to increasingly utilize sensors, which enables IoT applications in many areas, such as virtual reality experiences and others that require a quick response to function. In addition, the improved wireless communication coverage will allow data to be shared faster across a broad coverage. Specifically, the 5G network has a higher bandwidth (Yang et al., 2020). This increased bandwidth facilitates faster sharing of data across many connected devices. The 4G cellular network currently has a limited bandwidth, although the range is good.
