Stakeholders, Project Drivers, and Methodology
Stakeholders are the people or groups that are affected by or can affect the project directly or indirectly. The stakeholders can include the community members, politicians, employees, customers, other businesses, investors, and so on (Vlie et al., 2020). On the other hand, the project drivers are the people that have a role in the project delivery process. Both the stakeholders and project drivers are significant to the success of the project.
The stakeholders’ involvement in the project is essential in various ways. First, the stakeholders help in increasing the perception of success. According to Vlie et al. (2020), a project that ensures the shareholders find it positive will always be willing to support it regardless of the results. Managing their expectations makes them ready to invest in the project both financially and with their time. Once they see their potential for success, they will better understand and invest more in the project (Baeney, 2018).
Moreover, it helps in the identification of potential obstacles. During the various project events, they can identify multiple projects that can affect the project's success. Recognition of the problems before their manifestation helps develop solutions to the obstacles, saving a lot of time after the problem has occurred.
Also, the involvement of the stakeholders guarantees a smoother handover process. Most projects are created with a different team and are used with other people. Baeney (2018) SAYS that handing over deliverables to someone fully part of the project development process is more accessible than to a new person. If they have been a part of the entire development process, they will be aware and ready to handle the project. Additionally, it helps to manage their expectations. The involvement of the shareholders will make them know what is achievable and what is not possible with the available resources. Finally, stakeholders' participation creates an opportunity for free resources access. Consulting the stakeholders throughout the projects gives them an understanding of the team's needs, hence willing to freely invest in the project without extra cost. Apart from resources, the project can also benefit from the stakeholders’ knowledge about past mistakes to avoid repeating them in the new project.
