Chapter 3
Robots can be used for a variety of purposes, including making people's life easier, providing amusement, and serving as a reliable source of support. This passage raises the question: When will a robot be regarded as human? This question is utterly unanswerable at this time because, despite all that we have accomplished as a society, we are still a long way from developing AI systems that are capable of thinking solely for themselves. Robots will be able to act and speak like people in this scenario, and they will be able to exercise their rights whenever they choose, but they will need to do it legally, just like everyone else who wants their rights to be respected. Robots that can grasp emotions can help lonely people deal with their loneliness. Because it can relieve some of the tension that their surroundings produce, this is especially helpful in the medical industry. Finally, "socially aware robots" are welcome as long as they uphold fundamental human rights principles.
