Substance treatment and counseling services are necessary, and when therapists have more experience interacting with the DUI groups it is easier to facilitate recovery for addicts without being biased. The session is necessary as there was focus on identifying factors associated with risk of impaired driving and interventions depend on these indicators and the client’s unique situation.

In the intensive Out Patient counseling group,s facilitating change is prioritized and this is more likely when the members share information as they open up and are honest.  Discouraging inappropriate interactions goes a long way in creating a safe environment and facilitating interaction where there is no shaming the clients for their actions or ‘disgracing’ their families.
