Some groups and individuals have a set of respected values that are relatively different from those of ordinary Americans. Pursuing studies in the United States of American can be a wonderful experience in learning and some of the social values behind this experience have changed repeatedly, changing the face of education in the U.S. People’s behavior and attitude are based on their social values, and some of these major values include; equality, individualism, time, progress, and change, science, and technology, competition, informality, achievement, hard work, and eventually knowledge (Ghenea, 2015). In regards to the social values in the American society, this paper describes and explains how these values have changed in the last 50 years and how they have changed the face of education in the country. Changes in values have been seen across the world at different times, and these changes have been attributed to several different factors: new technology advancement, equality, and more people going to the University, honesty, social justice, peace, and political dialogue (Doran & Littrell, 2013). With the rise of new technology advancement over the last 50 years in the United States, innovation has been at the forefront of human education. From carving figures on walls in the past to this generation where most students are equipped with portable devices that are more advanced in technology, education has been pushed to the next level. Equality is another social value, which has changed immensely over the last 50 years. Today, Americans uphold the idea that everyone is equal, and everyone has the same rights regardless of race and ethnic groups. Over the last years, disputes have emerged due to social equality between the white and black community where African Americans complained to be denied the same equality as the white community even in education. With the change in technology over the last 50 years, the face of education has also changed (Kareema, 2014). Today, the education capabilities have been pushed to the next level because most students are equipped with new portable technological devices. Looking at where educational tools and methods have come from to where they are going, it is evident now that technology has changed the face of education. Equality is one most cherished social value by the Americans. This concept is very important because it is even given a religious basis whereby Americans say all people are created equally, and that God views all people regardless, of intelligence, economic status, educational background, and physical condition.
