Karl Marx and Max Weber are two names which have shaped modern thinking. Through their theories on social class and status, the two have managed to drive and influence today’s thinking and elucidations of different concepts. According to Marx, a person’s social class was dependent on one’s income, relationship with the available means of production, and control over the proletariat. He explained that it was the means of production that determined or that led to the division of a society into the bourgeoisie and the proletariat (Eds, 2018). The key components of his explanation are the means of production and control over the proletariat. In entrepreneurship, one needs to not only have access to the means of production but also be able to connect with the consumers. While the society could be divided into social classes, the relationship is interdependent and not as Marx described it. The control that entrepreneurs have over the consumers is that of supply.
