The USSF has indeed publicly offered the same contract for men and women. However, this does not necessarily mean that the women’s soccer team will be able to generate the same amount of revenue, especially when the world cup is involved. The World cup has a predominantly male market. In the US, the salary design of men and women has been different, which is why a direct comparison is impossible. However, the decision of USSF to make equal contracts for both sexes has a huge impact on salary equity and a huge effort for equality. (Perry, 2021)
The lawsuit created by the women’s team had huge pressure on the USSF, but the judge dismissed the lawsuit with a pending appeal. There are many efforts in creating equal pay for men and women, and the women even have a base salary of $100,000. However, men can earn more because there is much more revenue in men’s games in the World Cup.
