In many instances, religion has partially contributed to conflict across many parts of the world. Places such as the Middle East have had a protracted era of chaos and violence. While these conflicts often have multiple causes, religious and religious hostilities make significant contributions in escalating such disputes (Kishi & Theodorou, 2016: Masci, 2019). The role of religion and religious organizations in exacerbating and eliciting conflicts in the rapidly evolving world must be understood. Conflicts linked to religion are emerging, including the recent Delhi riots due to a clash between Hindus and Muslims clash, leading to the death of twenty-seven people.
The Delhi riots reflect religious intolerance. Differences in perspectives and practices can lead to clashes and deadly conflicts in Muslim-centric areas such as Maujpur, Jaffrabad, and Mustafabad, amongst others! The reports show that Muslims, Muslim homes, and shops were targeted by violent mobs, with the conflicting accounting for 27 deaths (BBC,2020). According to BBC News outlet, the deadly dispute occurred after Kapil Mishra, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, issues threats against protesters opposing the citizenship law (BBC,2020). The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) provides amnesty to illegal non-Muslim immigrants from specific countries whose majority population comprises Muslims. However, the law has polarized India in terms of the Hindu-Muslim axis.
