Every person has different perspectives regarding different topics and ideas that are being presented. The same thoughts can be considered to religion and cultural diversity as people can hold different opinions. Moreover, with such various perceptions, Saroglou (2011) perceived that despite the differences of opinion regarding these two topics, there still lies concepts that are interconnected with these both. He disclosed in his study the four dimensions that are universally connected and do not limit both religion and cultural contexts. Using these dimensions, I will provide an in-depth analysis of its use and its underlying assumptions.
Religion as Multidimensional
Saroglou (2011) argued in his paper that religion is a singular ideal that can be viewed as a multidimensional concept. In contrast, religious people can be divided into groups using different classifications under religion. These classifications can be termed beliefs, affiliations, or practices since people of different and same religions have different variations in these terms (Voas, 2007, as cited in Saroglou, 2011). This presents that people in the same religion do not have the same affinity in terms of beliefs, affiliations, or practices since some people entered such religion due to external, internal, or other influences. Thus, this means that the 72 percent population who have entered the four major religions, namely Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, are varied from the said terms.
To provide a common ground to these religions, Saroglou (2011) presented a model that envelopes different religions and cultural diversity.
